What’s a Points of YouⓇ Train the Trainer Workshop Like?

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

If you are in the business of helping people and seeking new ways to connect, then your journey has led you to this path to learn more about the Points of You method. Maybe you’re a Human Resource Director looking for new ways to engage and retain employees, a career counselor hoping to connect someone to services, or a consultant starting your new business and want a unique way to coach a client then the Points of You method and tools are the way to go. This year, Certified Points of You Trainer, Tony Hernandez will be holding Train-the-Trainer Sessions. This one day training workshop is an interactive training session where you will learn how to use the Coaching Game and Punctum Deck to conduct various exercises that help people to communicate authentically and foster better relationships. Here’s what happens during the training.

Here's What Happens

Pause

At the beginning of a Points of You encounter, we neutralize the learning space by holding a Pause. The pausing process allows the facilitator and participants to disconnect from the machinery of life, to slow down and breathe and take a brief yet necessary moment to get reacquainted with self and invite a moment of introspection. How often do we give ourselves the invitation to slow down? You can consider it form of mindfulness practice that helps set the tone and energy level as you launch into working with the Points of You tools and exercises. When everyone has completed the pause, you are now ready to engage in these amazing experiences!

Experiential Encounter

This exercise is an easy, social and fun experience than is typical of most workshops. It’s a getting-to-know-you session that focuses on creating time for participants to slow down, come face-to-face with themselves, and with others, from different points of view. It’s a powerful session that creates open communication between people.

Group Puzzle Process

This dynamic process can be implemented in work with different types of teams: work teams, management teams, leadership teams, and so on, as well as in group work like with couples, support groups, or coaching cohort. The process holds up a mirror to the way in which the individual within the group thinks and behaves, and the dynamic of the group. The advantage of this process lies in the use of the Points of You tools, which enables participants to touch on deep and essential issues in a non-confrontational way, hands-on, enjoyable and creative way.

Photo Album Process

This process allows a person to retell their story from new points of view. This process can be done by yourself or in small groups. Using the Punctum deck you can, you collect a series of pictures that depict an issue or aspect of your life you want to clarify or shift your perspective.

You look at each of the pictures in depth so that you can determine they way they will share your story. Once you've settled on the collection of pictures, you then create the best arrangement the pictures help tell your story. Then you invite group members to first share their interpretations and insights bases on the photo album you created.

Individual Coaching

You get the chance to use the Points of You tools for individual coaching. The coachee brings forward a situation they want to explore, connect to and expand their perspective around gaining clarity and a new viewpoint. In this particular training you get practice an individual coaching experience using the Ideal and Reality process. Using the Coaching Game Deck, you invite the person to select three cards that will guide in identifying what is their ideal, what is their reality, and what is the bridge to take that gets them closer to the ideal.

If you believe that you can apply this method and the tools within your line of work, then don't hesitate to claim your spot for the next training session in March!
