Changing Your Frequency

One of the most important steps to shift your frequency to put yourself in a calmer state is to pause. We live in a constantly distracted world. GOING. GOING. GOING. DOING. DOING. DOING.

So Pause let’s to take a timeout from that. To just be with yourself and open space to ask yourself, “How am I?”

So to create the best conditions for Pause, we will use music and comfortable location. You can use the featured music and find a comfortable spot where you can be free from distraction. While you are pausing, take a moment to ask yourself - What do I hope to achieve?

Enjoy!

The Power of Our Words: Teacher Language that Helps Children Learn by Paula Denton

You can probably remember times when, what you said to a student, enhanced their sense of self and when it caused hurt. I certainly can. Paula’s opening chapter makes the case to us as educators why our words matter and shares guidelines for shaping your teacher language.

Filled with lots of examples from classroom scenarios, Paula provides accessible ways to improve your teacher language in these areas.

  • Open-ended questions: stretching children’s social and academic learning
  • Listening: understanding the message in the words
  • Reinforcing language: seeing children and naming their strengths
  • Reminding language: helping students remember expectations
  • Redirecting language: giving clear instructions when children have gone off track
